So I don´t know if it´s already winter or still summer?! It´s almost unbelievable to me ... calendar shows December 6th and it´s sunny and temperatures arounf 14°C behind the windows! In short (perfect weather) time for the trip.
Probably I will repeat myself, but time really flies. It´s been 2 weeks until Christmas! Even though the weather doesn´t look like Christmas, lights, decorations in store´s windows and carold in every store ... totally reversed it.
Today I decided to take the opportunity to ride with my host family to NYC. And see the Christmas City for the 1st time this year. As I stood beneath the magnificent Christmas tree at Rockeffeler Center, I thought I need to write for you about the best 7 things to do in NYC for Christmas.
CHRISTMAS WINDOWS
You will have to go and see all those beautiful christmas windows in the City. My favourite are Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Macy´s or Bloomingdales. It´s unbelievable, how can perfectly decorate them! Sometimes they are too crazy, like this one at Saks 5th Ave.
CHRISTMAS MARKETS
If you like shopping, hot chocolate or apple cider you should go to visit christmas market. You can find many markets in the City, but the most famouse are at Union Square, in Bryant Park or indoor in the Grand Central Terminal.
ICE SKATING
You don´t remember when was your last time you stayed on the skates? Doesn´t matter. You can´t forget the technique. Where else to try ice skating then in christmas New York?! Ice skating in New York is so cozy and almost a little bit magical. If you are fun of "Home alone" you definitelly should go ice skating to Central Park, where is the biggest ice ring. But it´s not only one place where you can go. You can go to Winter Village in Bryant Park or to Rockeffeler Center. If you don´t have skates you can rent!
CHRISTMAS TREE
The gigantic Christmas tree at Rockeffeler Center is a must to see every year! But also don´t forget to see the others for example at Bryant Park, Madison Square Park or at the Met Muzeum.
CHRISTMAS STORES
One of the best experiences for my eyes. It´s absolutely amazing! I really could not believe how many christmas decorations you can find there. Before Christmas you can find one store at 5th Ave, but the most famous, which is open year-round, is located in Little Italy.
MACY'S CHRISTMAS FLOOR
You must to go there! Absolutely amazing. You can fin a lot of beautiful decorated Christmas trees, Christmas decorrations, Christmas exhibitions, music, ... Everything you can dream about! It´s really inspiring place where to go. They really have something for every taste.
CHRISTMAS SHOPPING AT 5TH AVENUE
December is probably the best month for a walk down 5th Avenue. Especially if you're looking for a gift. Yes, it can be a bit chaotic place at this time, also for someone a little more expensive ... But If you ask me, what you must see in NYC for Christmas, I´ll say don´t miss this place. Joyful mood surrounding you everywhere, Christmas music, jingle bells, beautiful lighting! Aahh ..
