I had a little day dreaming this afternoon. I was in the park with Avery, beautiful weather, sun was shining and temperature was around 20 Celsius. Well a perfect fall day! Until now I haven´t thought about how happy I am. But today in that park I did.
In the morning happened something that doesn´t happen to often. I met 2 new au pairs - Czech and German (finally another Czech in Chappaqua). When I was listening all their stories about host families, I realized how lucky I am. My host family is really nice. Short story - I have the best host family ever, I really can´t complain about anything. My American dream really comes true.
Au pair´s life is not only about host family, but it is mainly about friends. About friends who will do everything possible and impossible with you. You can call them with anything anytime. I am extremely glad to be surrounded by friends from different parts of our world, with Americans or by my Czech friends.
Every day I think about how lucky I was when I was born in a free country. Nobody does not determine what I can and can not do or what I can read or not, if I can travel or not, if I can play sports or not, if I can study or not, etc. For this fact, I am extremely grateful. I know - my country is not the best in the world, but when I hear stories of another au pairs or friends ... I'm really happy for my country. Yes, I don´t like my president, but what ... Bill Clinton also does not like him :-) Well, let's be honest, what is the best country in the world ?! None!
Anything is not perfect in this world ... even my own family isn´t. Despite all this I am happy for my family - mom, dad, brother, grandparents, aunt and uncle, cousins, etc.
I would not trade it for tanything in the world. They gave me life. A life in which they support me. Whether it was education, playing guitar, basketball, traveling, learning, Olympics, work, America, anything ... always stood by me. For all this and much more belong them my THANKS. I'm type of person who never asked my family to much, rather announce things and make them iby myself. But I never heard NO from my family! I guess it's because they raised me right and my decisions were reasonable. I am really happy when I can hear how proud of me they are!!! :-)
I'm happy for each new day, for every new single year, for each new experience, for each new knowledge, for every decision, for every meeting, for every message, for every mistake, for every interview, for every smile ...
Each of us can decide. It's up to you for what you decide. That kind of life I live, was, is and always will be my decision. I guess I'm a little wimp, so I never made fast decisions. If I could not decide, I'd go for advice. If the advice will not help you then listen your heart. Today I can say, "I AM REALLY LUCKY GIRL!"
