NIAGARA FALLS CALL occurred me to write an article about how it is with my constant traveling.
All au pairs have to follow US rules and it prescribe at least one free weekend during a month. This free weekend allows me to trave to nearby towns or places :-) I don´t spend money for stupid things and make my plans well!
Weekend trips should not be spontaneous, but well-planned. Why? It´s easy - my time and money are limited. Also remember it´s better if you will travel in more people - ideally in four :-)
Before I went to the States I had created my US wish list with places I want to visit. Of course I included "closed" cities to New York. Why is "closed" in quotes? Because the distance of 3-6 hours by car doesn´t mean anything in America! :-)
I think my variant 1 weekend trip per month is ideal. You have a lot of time to find travel budies, prepare perfect plan and save some money. I can´t exactly say if is better to choose the destionation and then budies or vice versa. I had 4 girls around mw who arrived to the States almost at the same time as me. We were the best team. We planned everything together, unfortunately my friends went home after their year and I have left only one of them.
After selecting your destination is time for planning. Some girls were looking for accommodation (Airbnb, hostels or hotels options), another were looking for the best transportations oprtions (place, bus, train or car). Usually won rental car variant, sometimes was the cheapest bus ticket :-) Accommodation - mostly we slept in hotel, cause more people reduce price. Really important is to check prices of attractions in each cities. Sometimes it may happen that online shopping is cheaper than the payment on the spot. :-)
